Medlow Bath Accommodation
Medlow Bath is a small town in the Blue Mountains between Katoomba and Blackheath. It is located on the Great Western Hwy about 110 kms from Sydney at 1050m above sea level.
The town was originally called Brown’s Siding after a railway platform opened in 1880 to service Brown’s sawmill.
In 1883 the town was re-named Medlow, then Medlow Bath in 1904.
Hydro Majestic Hotel
Medlow Bath became well known with the opening of the Hydro Majestic Hotel in 1904. This grand hotel was built by Mr Mark Foy (of Mark Foys department stores) essentially as a health spa where people could enjoy ‘hydropathic’ treatments.
With the opening of the hotel, Mr Foy applied to have the name of the town changed to Medlow Bath.
The Hydro Majestic Hotel was a luxurious, world-class resort and played host to many famous guests from Australia and overseas in its heyday.
The Hydro Majestic Hotel is perched on the edge of the Blue Mountains escarpment and has spectacular views of the Megalong Valley and Shipley Plateau.

Brown’s Siding Store & Café
Don’t pass Medlow Bath without stopping for a delicious breakfast, coffee and cake, or lunch at Brown’s Siding Store & Café (formerly Whisk & Pin).
After selling her gourmet label, Whisk & Pin, the owner has kept the café and continues to provide exceptional food in delightful surroundings. The menu changes seasonally.
The café is housed in the old post office building and also features a beautiful, eclectic range of homewares as well as an array of gourmet foods from local producers and well-known artisans.
You will find Brown's Siding Store & Cafe by turning right off the Great Western Highway at the lights, into Railway Parade. The cafe is located at 1 Railway Parade on the opposite side of the railway line to the Hydro Majestic.
