Jenolan Caves Accommodation - Blue Mountains

The Jenolan Caves are the most famous limestone caves in Australia and among the oldest and best cave systems in the world.

There are 11 caves on show, 10 which can be seen by taking a guided tour and one cave (Devil’s Coach House/Nettle Cave) which can be seen on a self-guided tour.

A tour of the caves will take you to a world of underground rivers and pools, of narrow passageways and wondrous stalagnite and stalactite formations. Among the most popular caves are Lucas Cave and River Cave. Tours range from one to two hours.

There are also a number of other tours including a ghost tour, themed tours and adventure tours. Adventure tours take you to caves without electric lighting and formed pathways. Be prepared to wear overalls, helmut and light for some serious crawling and climbing. During school holidays, there are special tours and activities for children and teenagers.

The Jenolan Caves also hosts a series of concerts and events throughout the year.

For more details visit the official Jenolan Caves website (www.jenolancaves.org.au) or phone 1300-76-33-11 or 02-6359-3911.

Another good website is The Jenolan Guide (http://members.optusnet.com.au/rawhyte/index.html) which gives an excellent summary of the cave tours and bushwalks in the area.
