Wollemi Wilderness Cabin
At Wollemi Wilderness Cabin you live in the past with all the luxuries of the present. The morning sun falls on the bedrooms, giving a warm, caressing wake up call to the sleeper. The living room and verandas are within reach of the last rays of the evening sun. Spend the days lying back and savouring the million year old view.
Wollemi Wilderness Cabin is built on Mt Condor Ridge at Mountain Lagoon in the National Park. The cabin was built in accordance with ecologically sustainable development principles. Its architecture reflects that of first white settlers to the Hawkesbury Blue Mountains region - the iconic Australian timber slab cottage.
Wollemi Wilderness Cabin won 'Excellence in Housing' awards for best environmental dwelling. It is made completely of Australian native timbers and contains the latest solar and waste recycling technology. The dwelling showcases how we can live in harmony with one of the oldest and most fragile landscapes on earth.
We have taken a range of photos to show you more about Blue Mountains Cabins; the property, rooms, Bilpin and the surrounding area.

Things to do:
If you want peace - time out - a place where things have not changed and are not likely to change, a place where you can breathe easy for awhile, this might be for you.
Wollemi Wilderness National Park was recently listed on the World Heritage Register because it's an area of our planet that hasn't changed since the last ice age. Here you can sit back and look out over thousands of hectares of prehistoric land and your only neighbours are Australia's prehistoric fauna and flora.
Wollemi Wilderness Cabin and House are places for people who want to glimpse the simple life of our forebears: of waking to the Currawong's singing up the sun; of stoking the fire then stretching out for a rest on the verandah in the weekend sun to watch the echidnas and lyrebirds go about their business. And finally to laugh with the kookaburras as the sun sets on another day in the lucky country.
Getting There:
Here are the directions - follow them closely, especially if you are arriving at night!
Take Bells Line of Road to Bilpin via Richmond and Kurrajong.
Turn right at the Mountain Lagoon Road sign. After just under 10km the road becomes a dirt road. Continue along for a couple more kms until you arrive at a junction to Sams Way. Go left, follow the road for 1.2 km around the lagoon and watch for the yellow Wollemi Wilderness Cabin sign (and green walking track signs) on your left. Go left, then sharp right through the cabin gate and up the steep hill (you'll find a fork in the track -
you can take either the left or right). About half a km from the gate,
the cabin will appear before you.
How to get there - House
Drive via Richmond to Bells Line of Road, headed for Lithgow. You need to go through Bilpin, and about 10 minutes beyond to a very small town called Berambing. Look for the signs to the Chapel on the Hill. We are nearby.
Turn right off Bells Line of Road at the blue sign to the "Chapel on the Hill" into Berambing crescent and drive approximately 300 metres. Look for a Bulgamatta road on your right (If you see the entrance to Chapel on the Hill you have gone too far.)
Drive carefully along Bulgamatta Road for 1000 metres going down a hill you will pass through stone gate posts. Drive another 100 metres, looking for a dirt road on your right (next to stockpile of railway sleepers). Take this road and drive across a small wooden bridge - after 200m you will be at Wollemi Wilderness House!
- All prices are per room per night unless otherwise stated & includes taxes where applicable
